    U.S. Embassy in Beirut: General Michael Lenny Joins Ceasefire Implementation Committee as Senior Military Leader

    The U.S. Embassy in Beirut announced that General Michael Lenny has joined the Ceasefire Implementation Committee as a senior military leader, serving full-time in Beirut.

    In a statement, the embassy said:
    “Chairman of the Ceasefire Implementation Mechanism Committee, General Jasper Jeffers, met with Lebanese leadership and the UNIFIL command in Beirut, accompanied by General Michael Lenny.”
    It further announced, “General Lenny is joining the committee as a senior American military leader on a full-time basis in Beirut, to continue the strong relationship between the Lebanese and American armies.”

    General Lenny stated:
    “I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this very important mission and am very optimistic about the future. The Lebanese Army is known to be an effective force, and my meetings have shown its commitment to ensuring peace and stability.”

    The U.S. Embassy noted that “General Lenny will work closely with the Lebanese Army, UNIFIL, France, and the Lebanese Military Technical Committee to enable the Lebanese Army to fully provide security and protect Lebanese sovereignty.”

    It added:
    “Recognizing the importance of the ceasefire, General Jeffers will remain engaged with Lebanon while continuing his role as commander of U.S. Special Operations Forces in the Levant, Arabian Gulf, and Central Asia.”
